St Vincent’s celebrates dedicated staff
The calibre and commitment of our people are integral to everything we accomplish at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane.
On Friday 25 September we will recognise staff for their dedicated years of service at our annual Staff and Volunteer Service Awards, recognising that each staff member contributes to our Mission of Serving something greater.
27 employees will be recognised for five years of service, 10 for 10 years, four for 15 years, seven for 20 years, three for 25 years and one for 40 years – 65-year-old Genia Miszkowycz.
Enrolled Nurse Genia Miszkowycz, has only ever wanted to work at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane.
“There was a something about St Vincent’s that drew me to work here, a kindness and sense of compassion,” she said.
40 years later and Genia is still working full-time on St Vincent’s palliative care ward, a position she says has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
“I feel honoured that when people bring their family here we can look after them, I give 150 percent to our patients and the best thing I receive in return is a smile,” she said.
“I feel honoured to help them have the dignity they deserve and allow families the privilege of just being with a loved one and not having to worry about being the nurse or the carer, they can just be the brother, sister, mother, father or friend.”
Genia, a mother to two and grandmother to four, calls St Vincent’s her home and all the staff family.
“I love the people I work with, they’re family to me,” she said.
“My journey here has been a great one, it’s been rewarding it’s been satisfying, more than anything it has been an honour to work here.”
